Garbage Blooms in NYC
The can up top is one we spied today on 42nd street just outside Manhattan’s Bryant Park and the lovely can below lives nearly across from it inside the park.
Apparently these tulip-shaped cans were more than just cool they were for a greater good. According to Bryant Park’s director of design, Ignacio Ciocchini, they hoped that the pretty receptacles would make people “pay attention to the bins and show that their aesthetics and throwing out garbage are important.”
The flashy trash didn’t just catch our eye, they apparently won a silver medal from the Spark Awards international design competition.
